I run a small framebuilding workshop located in North Portland.
I build every bike one at a time and with great care and precision. My bikes don't have model names or product codes so your bicycle is your bicycle. Every bike that leaves the shop starts it's life with a phone call or an email about what you are looking for in a hand built bicycle.
My current build time is around one year from the date I receive your non-refundable, non-transferable $500 deposit. At this time, I start an order form with your contact information along with any relevant specifics about the bike.
If you can come by the workshop for a fitting, this is ideal, otherwise I can sort it out using a reputable local shop that can give me a good starting point. I also have years of experience and can guide you through the process personally. While it is crucial to have a good fit before I start designing the bicycle, I do not need all of this information right away when you first call. Ideally, I need the fitting information and all other specifics sorted out three months before the bike is due. Specifics include fit, design, color and parts.
Once I have the design sorted out and you have checked off for the final specs, I build the bike. Once built, I take it across town to Coat Paint shop for a delicious paint job. Coat is a local paint shop and design house working with the finest framebuilders in the country to provide top-notch powder coat and wet paint jobs so your bike ends up looking sexy.
When the bike is at paint I will have ordered your parts and will have everything ready to build up the frame and fork when it is done. Paint typically takes a month from the drop off date. Once the bike is assembled, I take some photos and can either box is up and ship it to you or you can come by the shop and pick it up in person.
If you have questions, feel free to email me at or give a call at 503-810-2504. My little workshop is located at 7331 N. Knowles, Portland, OR. 97217.
Cheers, Ira
